![]() ![]() Screenwriter Richard Wenk has taken a simple concept and crafted an engaging thriller born out of the simplicity. Morse is one of the best character actors out there and a true chameleon. Morse's Nugent is simply the guy who overcame his own conscious while Moseley never did. Finally, David Morse's characterization is a great counterpoint to Mosley. His performance is the heart of the story and his character is hard not to like. Mos is as much an actor as he is a musician or anything else. Mos Def continues to impress, his rapper-turned-actor status quickly fading from the minds of audiences. 16 Blocks is directed by Richard Donner and written by Richard Wenk. After years of coasting through his career and turning his head, Mosley has to decide whether it's time to make a change in his life. It turns out this assignment runs a lot deeper than Mosley had foreseen. When Mosley stops at a liquor store on his way to transporting Eddie, an attempt is made on Eddie's life. Headed by Mosley's former friend Frank Nugent (David Morse), these are the same cops that Mosley himself used to be involved with. ![]() He was actually the witness to some dirty dealings amongst police. As it turns out, Eddie is no run-of-the-mill witness. The witness is a career criminal named Eddie Bunker (Mos Def). On a normal New York City afternoon, Mosley is given the chump task of transporting a Federal Witness a mere 16 blocks from the precinct to a courtroom. There was once a time when Moseley was a respectable police officer, but years of corruption and too many bottles of scotch to count later, Mosley has tuned out of reality as he heads towards his pension. Bruce Willis is Jack Mosley, a washed-up alcoholic cop who has long ago given up on the dream of making something better of his life. ![]()
